Mustang, beyond the wind
Following old footpaths through Lo Manthang, where red cliffs, chortens, and wind hold centuries of stories.

Wind is the first language of Mustang. It follows the Kali Gandaki, presses against the walls of Lo Manthang, and rearranges every plan made after noon.
Beyond the jeep road, old footpaths still connect whitewashed homes, mani walls, chortens, and fields protected by stone. Walking them reveals a different scale of time—measured in barley harvests, winters, and cups of butter tea.
I came north looking for a dramatic landscape. I left thinking about the careful ways people keep a home, a language, and a rhythm of life alive inside it.
