Where the trail turns gold
A slow walk through Manang, past stone villages, spinning prayer wheels, and the gold-lit Annapurna trail.

The morning arrived quietly above the Marsyangdi. First as a pale edge behind the Annapurnas, then all at once—warm light pouring over the stone roofs and dry fields of Manang.
I had planned to cover more ground, but the trail through Braga kept offering reasons to slow down: a prayer wheel turning in the wind, a cup of salt tea, and a conversation held in the sun outside a small lodge.
By late afternoon the path had turned gold. The low sun caught the buckwheat stubble and dust underfoot until the whole valley seemed lit from within. I remember the feeling more than the distance: Nepal asking me to stay present for one more bend.
